Carnival in Venice is a unique, open-air costume extravaganza renowed for its history and unforgettable atmosphere in addition to the official parties – held on the Grand Canal, in Rio Cannaregio, Palazzo Ducale and in the city’s “campi” and “campielli” – the City abounds in private parties and masked balls at famous Venetians Palazzi.
Traditionally the most important days of the Venetian Carnival are Giovedì Grasso (Fat Thursday) and Martedì Grasso (Shrove Tuesday), even though visitor attendance reachest its peak at the weekends.
